The whole city has more than 2440 kilometers’ coastline, 54 parts of them are deepwater coastline， whose total length is nearly 280 kilometers. Among the deepwater coastline, it is about 200 kilometers where the water depth is greater than 15 meters, and can be built over 100，000-250，000 ton berths. What’s more, nearly 110 kilometers of coastline owns more than 20 meters’ water depth. Zhoushan port totally has 99 routes, most of them are two-way navigable.The amount of 150,000-ton ship navigable waterway is 13, 300,000-ton ship navigable waterway is 3. We have 50 anchorages, 390 square km anchor working area. 20 anchorages can anchor 100,000-ton ship. 5 of them can anchor 300,000-ton ship. Zhoushan’s harbour condition is extremely advantageous. The water is deep and the waves are small, the sediment is a little and the sea never get frozen. The offshore distance of the isobath below 10 meters is mostly to be less than 100 meters.All of these make Zhoushan satisfies the sixth generation, the seventh generation of container ship and large oil tanker, bulk shipping and more advanced vessel’s traffic and berthing, becomes the ideal location to build a large modern deepwater port.
